{create} Oh Christmas Craft...

I saw some inspiration on Pinterest (where else, right?) using glitter to create a silhouette of a reindeer. It was cute, but I am just not really into animal heads- even the cardboard or glitter ones, so I thought I would try a different shape. At first I wanted to do "Ho, Ho Ho" but after cutting out the BOO for another project, I was not going to try another O. So, I went with a Christmas tree. Here are my materials:
-Glue
-Glitter
-Canvas (I used a 9 x 12 two pack)
-Silhouette
-I was going to use the ribbon to put a bow on top... but it didn't go so well.

Cut out your silhouette & trace it on the canvas.

Then, add glue. I spread it around with a Q-tip, trying to cover all of the pencil lines.

Then- LOTS OF GLITTER!! Ah!

After my first glitter round, I had some holes. I just added more glue with a Q-tip & repeated.

Ta-dah!

So where to put it?!? I already have a small print on my mantle, so not there. It was a bit too tall for any of my shelves. So, the gallery wall! I took down another print & hung this right up. Now my gallery wall is merry & bright!

What easy holiday crafts have you been doing? What have you been making glittery?

  3. This looks so pretty! I just love glitter -- especially this time of year! I bet you could also make this into a card, too, if you added a little sealer spray over the glitter part! ;-)

  5. Gotta love some sparkle! Your little tree is so cute! Is it OCDish of me that even the sight of that pile of glitter on your paper makes me nervous? This is why I've never worked with glitter. I think I need to get over it because this is a seriously cute little piece of Christmas art. I love it!
